#MARKETS: "Technology Barometer Measures Consumer Interest"

A new technology "barometer" with cross-tabulation capabilities allows marketing organizations to create targeted reports on consumer demand. The new cross-tab feature enables customization for specific enterprise usage models, according to Allied Business Intelligence (ABI Research).

Here is what ABI says about its technology barometer service: ABI Research’s Technology Barometer™ Research Services are based on bi-annual primary research tracking studies and they provide dynamic views and insight into the constantly changing consumer technology market.  Every six months, consumers in seven different countries complete comprehensive online questionnaires that gather information on their usage of and purchase intentions for a wide variety of existing consumer technology products and services, as well as receptivity to emerging products and services. The Technology Barometer’s latest news includes 25% of Consumers Intend to Purchase Smartphones and HDTVs in the First Half of 2012, as well as Samsung Tops for HDTV Purchase Intent Among US Consumers.

ABI Research has also developed an easy-to-use cross-tab tool to view and compare the underlying data within the Technology Barometer™ survey results that addresses the unique needs of each customer, increasing the return on investment for market intelligence.

The online and interactive cross-tabulation generator gives clients the opportunity to customize their own reports from questions in a single survey. “The online crosstab tool is a great way for clients to take control of survey results and perform comparisons that are most relevant to their business,” says Jeff Orr, group director, consumer research

Now, clients of the services that wish to examine the underlying data can do so themselves via a simple, web-based tool. The self-service capability includes the ability to generate tables comparing the results of any single question to the results of any other question, enabling them to dig deeper into the data and explore relationships between groups. Data can be viewed by frequencies or percentages and the resulting tables can be exported as Excel files.

The new crosstab generator tool is part of the firm’s three Technology Barometer™ Research Services: Technology Barometer: Digital Lifestyle, Technology Barometer: Connected Home and Computing, and Technology Barometer: Mobile.
